Bag Madness

Phew!  Yesterday I finished a few more bags.  I cut the fabric for these bags last month, but never got around making them.  I have so many things I would like to work on right now, but trying hard to complete what I have started first...  Some of these will be for sale in a shop in Beaufort, Victoria.  If you are interested in purchasing any of these, just contact me and I can set up a Paypal Invoice.

A Green Frill Me Bag in Amy Butler Fabrics

Here is my latest Frill Me bag, this one is in Amy Butler's Daisy Chain fabrics and Moda Bleach White - which is more of a creamy white.  The pattern is Melly & Me's Frill Me, but I have modified the pattern a little.

Pretty Ditty Apron

This is my first attempt at making an apron using Jamie Christina's ''Pretty Ditty'' pattern.  I made the non-reversible apron and really like it!  Might have to add a few of these to my To-Do-List!

it's beginning to look a lot like Christmas!

I love Christmas, it's simply the best time of the year, and even though we are usually really busy, I find I always sew at lot during the whole month of December!  I have been busy making bags for presents for my friends. Here are some of what I have made this week:

I started these last two quite a while ago, but kind of never got around to finish them, but this morning got motivated!

Some new dresses for Summer

It's almost Christmas and here in Australia that also means SUMMER is here! It has taken me quite a few years to get use to this, coming from Sweden where Christmas is always cold & dark, and sometimes snow!  To kick off the summer season, I have made Mia some new dresses.  I will make more of these, because she loves wearing them!

Boys' Hullabaloo Quilt

The Hullabaloo Quilts are coming along nicely!  Here is the second one finished.  This one in Red, Lime, Grey and White - all from Urban Chiks' Hullabaloo collection.  For the backing I used a Riley Blake print in White and Lime polka dots which matched perfectly.

This quilt is now for sale in my Etsy Shop

Hullabaloo Quilts

Today I will start cutting three new quilts and here are the fabrics that I'm going to use:

I only have a Fat Quarter of each of these beautiful prints, so I will be somewhat limited to what I will do, but that is also the fun part!

Work in Progress - Mendocino Quilt

YAY! Quilt top is finished! Oh NO!!! Out of batting... I will have to make a trip down to the sewing shop tomorrow and stock up! Which means I can start cutting the next quilt now!

A little help goes a long way

My little Mia is very interesting in sewing too, here she is helping me put together the pieces for the quilt we are making!

Frill Me Bag

Today I found some spare time and made this bag, which I know I will use a lot! Fabrics used are from Heather Bailey's Freshcut Collection which I just love. The pattern used is Melly & Me's ''Frill Me''. I modified the pattern a little as I always do. I think I will make a few more of these!

I don't normally cook with an apron, but really I should!  I love looking at aprons and think they just make your kitchen look complete!

Today I finished these two reversible aprons, both made using Erin McMorris Park Slope fabric and a little bit of Heather Ross's dots.

Pinwheel Quilt

I finished this quilt last November, but somehow forgot to add it to my blog, so here it is!

The quilt is a Pinwheel Quilt with mostly Moda Recess fabric, but also some Flea Market Fancy & Michael Miller ''Rockets''.  For backing I used an IKEA Numbers fabric which I just love.  I used Michael Miller ''Ta Dot'' for binding.

I used Thimble Blossoms "WILD THING" pattern but added borders to each block.

a Little Halter Dress

I've been thinking about making some dresses for little girls for a while now, but just haven't got around to it. So tonight I made this one for my daughter, Mia. It was really easy to make, so I can't wait to make a few more now! Best of all, she liked it too!

Pickledish Quilt - Baby Cot Quilt

I finished this baby quilt yesterday using Aneela Hoey's Pickledish Quilt pattern.  It was a fun pattern to work with and now I'm thinking of attempting a larger one.  Like most quilters, there is always an endless amount of scraps left over, which is all this quilt needs!

Hello Winter

Winter has arrived early in Melbourne this year, so last night I decided to make this Hot Water Bottle Cover.

a little pink quilt...

Having returned to the workforce full time now for three months - after 10 wonderful years at home with my 3 kids - I'm slowly finding time to sew again. Tuesday nights have turned into sewing nights with me sewing in the toy room, whilst the kids are playing and watching TV. It's a nice way to wind down after a busy day at work. Last week I made a little quilt for a girl turning 10 years old, using mostly Joel Dewberry's Sparrow Collection fabrics and some of Tanya Whelan's Ava Rose fabrics.

Babushka Love

I'm having too much fun making these, so I will just keep going with them for a while! Yesterday I the made one with Red Hair in the same design as the first one (because I had left over fabric) and then I decided to make the Blonde one in mainly Denyse Schmidt fabrics!

Babushka Doll

I've been wanting to make this Babushka doll for a while and tonight I started my first one. I have another 4 to go. I made this one using fabric from Tone Finnanger's TILDA collection.

I found that the pattern (by Ooshka) was difficult to read as it was written in centimeters and not inches - most patchwork mats, rules etc are in inches - and also a lot of unnecessary pre-cutting of fabric, rather than just sew 4 strips together in correct width/length. The end result was the same, but I think the pattern should be re-written for the AU/USA market personally.

A One Yard Skirt in Moda SWELL

We've had a very unusual spring and summer this year, with so much rain and cold weather, at times it has felt like winter! There has not been much need for summer clothes, but yesterday was hot & sunny, so I decided to make myself a skirt. I have never made a skirt before, so I just made this one up without a pattern, using just under a yard of fabric in total. It was fun and easy to make, so I think I might make a few more now!

Starting 2011 with finishing old projects

I am trying to be good.  It is killing me, but I have so many UFO's (UnFinished Objects) that I feel bad about starting a new project just yet.  This feeling will past, as I always have lots of unfinished projects in my life - not only sewing either... The mood for twenty-eleven is to just finish off the ones that are almost finished anyway, then move on to what I really want to do.
Today I finished two bags that I started along with 8 others early last year. These two are made using a Melly & Me pattern called Meadow, and fabrics used are from Joel Dewberry's Aviary collection (now retired).
