A Heather Bailey 3 Tier Dress

3 Tier Dress
I have had these Heather Bailey fabrics for so long and not really been sure what to make of them.  I just love this whole collection (Pop Garden & Bijoux) so much that it is almost impossible just to pick 3!  I wanted to make something bright and here is the result.  I have cut out 6 of these dresses, three are now finished, so half way there!

I'm Back Sewing...

3 Tier Dress
2010 has not been a busy sewing year for me, but I have just started to get back into it again and hopefully I can still make up for lost time before this year is over.  There's only 3 months till Christmas and I have so many things I want to make as gifts for friends and family.
Today I finished a dress for my daughter, Mia.  Last time I made one of these for her she was only one, and now she is four!  I have cut out a few more and will put some into my new Web Shop which will open up soon, I will keep you posted here!
The fabrics I used are from Heather Bailey's collection Pop Garden & Bijoux and also some of Urban Chiks' Sweet fabrics.

Work in Progress

This week I have been working on a quilt using a pattern from my favorite book by Denyse Schmidt:

Denyse Schmidt Quilts: 30 Colourful Quilt and Patchwork Projects

I am using some of Denyse Schmith's fabrics, Amy Butler, Urban Chics and a few others.  I am happy with how it's turning out.

French Trapunto Quilting - Le Boutis

♥♥♥
I went to the Stitches and Craft Show in Melbourne last weekend with my sister-in-law Rebecca.  We had a wonderful day and spent a little bit too much money, but most of all, it kick started my motivation for sewing again!

I have been sewing a little bit every day since!  This is what I am working on now:

I am very excited about this French Trapunto Quilting Kit (Le Boutis) I bought at the show, which I have started working on.  It is different from my normal type of sewing, but as always, I love learning new things.

Here I have transferred the design on to the fabric  - so far so good

This is what it looks like now after a little bit of stitching.  Not sure this is correct, if the size of the stitches are right or not...  Seem to look a lot worse than what the lady at the Craft Show demostrated...  Oh, well.  I will keep you updated on the progress!

Kaffe Fasset Drunkens Path Quilt

♥♥♥
Here is my first attempt at a Drunken's Path quilt. I actually started this quilt nearly a year ago just before we began selling our old house, but packed it all away when we were moving and have not really been motivated to complete it. Today I thought I would get it done! I was not as hard as I had imagined and I quite like the result!

I have used strong and colorful fabrics mainly Kaffe Fassett prints, but also some Amy Butler. For the back I used a Philip Jacob's print.

Phew, Confetti Quilt finished!

Phew...I  just finished Dylan's quilt.  I always feel so relieved once a quilt is finished.  When I start the quilting process it feels like it will never end, yet it always does!
This quilt was made using Japanese fabrics and Recess by American Jane for Moda.  It was bought as a kit, called Confetti.  I love the colors and all the little cars, animals and trees.  For the backing I used a fabric that I bought from IKEA which I found was just perfect for this project!

Half Way There!

I am slowly getting there with Dylan's quilt.  Hopefully tomorrow I can piece the top together and start quilting!

It's Autumn - serious sewing ahead

I just love start of Autumn!  Australian summers are usually long and very hot and I just love the cool change.  To me it reminds me of Sweden, I love the seasons changing, and especially from hot to cold.  Nothing better than sewing whilst the rain is hitting kitchen window, smell of coffee throughout the house and music on!
Today I'm cutting fabric for a new quilt, this one is for my son Dylan who loves sitting with a blanket in front of the TV at night.  I will use some japanese prints and also some American Jane Recess fabrics.
